Fridays: Kickass Heroine

Sky

Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…
That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.
Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.

cover 4 stars

I really like it. I love the girl, not so dreamy with the sky so huge. After you read the book, it fits.

characters 5 stars

Ms. Hoover creates the perfect characters.

Holder is the perfect male. Really he is hot and cold, sweet and tart, perfect!

Sky is such a strong female character, so brave, so so so amazing.

You can connect with them and love them.

Some pretty strong secondary characters as well.

plot 5 stars

The plot created by the author is amazing. Until half of the book, I was thinking it was ok. After that Ms. Hoover threw in a twist and BAM. It explodes! Really this was AWESOME. I wasn't expecting. I could never have guessed any of it. PEFERCT! AMAZING!

The story is not easy to read, it's powerful, it's dark, it's sad and happy, it's good and bad.

This book keeps you guessing until last minute and makes you want more until the end.

So well crafted! Masterpiece!

freshness 5 stars

Ms. Colleen Hoover has presented me with one of the most original plots ever. So unexpected, that couldn't believe for a while what I was reading. Amazing!

audible 4 stars

I have enjoyed the narrator's voice, but she was a bit slow. I had to read this on 1.25, which made it perfect.

Impressions and Opinion

I haven't read anything before from Ms. Hoover and I was shocked. Now I'm adding her to my author's to follow list.

The characters of this book are amazing and the plot is very well conceived. You find to loopholes in it, everything was well explained.

If you enjoy an amazing book with a few tears now and then, you should read this and be AMAZED!

“The sky is always beautiful.Even when it's dark or rainy or cloudy,it's still beautiful to look at....it'll be there no matter what...and I know it'll always be beautiful.”

Siblings

IMG_0983
I’m with my dad and my two brothers.

I’m brazilian, and like most latin cultures, we are very much family oriented.
We have lunch at my dad’s with our families every Sunday.
My older brother and I, live in the same gated community, and our kids are always together.
My younger brother is still a teen and he lives with my dad.
We travel at least once a year together and we sort of raise our kids to be close cousins, almost like siblings.
I could have posted pictures of many of my cousins that I feel are like sisters/brothers to me.

Wednesdays: Alpha Hero

Book 7 in the New Species series by Laurann Dohner

Zandy’s had too much to drink and is in the wrong place at the wrong time. She knows she’s going to die. When next her eyes open, a beautiful man-creature is holding her in his arms. He’s just too tempting to resist; her very own fallen angel. She wraps herself around his body, determined to have him. But when this angel turns out to be flesh and blood, reality crashes in—she’s seducing a New Species.
Tiger’s shock quickly turns to intense passion when the human female kisses him, despite the fact she’s trying to get his clothes off while he’s engaged in a task force operation. He’s also made it clear he’ll never take a mate. Rather difficult when he and Zandy can’t keep their hands off each other. The taste and feel of his little human just leaves Tiger wanting more.
Publisher’s Note: While each New Species book is a standalone, the greatest enjoyment will come from reading them in series order.

Wednesdays: Waiting On Wednesday #2

A weekly feature hosted by Breaking the Spine on Wednesday

Catch a professional assassin: top priority. Find a failure-to-appear and collect big bucks: top score. How she’ll pull it all off: top secret.
Trenton, New Jersey’s favorite used-car dealer, Jimmy Poletti, was caught selling a lot more than used cars out of his dealerships. Now he’s out on bail and has missed his date in court, and bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is looking to bring him in. Leads are quickly turning into dead ends, and all too frequently into dead bodies. Even Joe Morelli, the city’s hottest cop, is struggling to find a clue to the suspected killer’s whereabouts. These are desperate times, and they call for desperate measures. So Stephanie is going to have to do something she really doesn’t want to do: protect former hospital security guard and general pain in her behind Randy Briggs. Briggs was picking up quick cash as Poletti’s bookkeeper and knows all his boss’s dirty secrets. Now Briggs is next on Poletti’s list of people to put six feet under.
To top things off, Ranger—resident security expert and Stephanie’s greatest temptation—has been the target of an assassination plot. He’s dodged the bullet this time, but if Ranger wants to survive the next attempt on his life, he’ll have to enlist Stephanie’s help and reveal a bit more of his mysterious past.
Death threats, highly trained assassins, highly untrained assassins, and Stark Street being overrun by a pack of feral Chihuahuas are all in a day’s work for Stephanie Plum. The real challenge is dealing with her Grandma Mazur’s wild bucket list. A boob job and getting revenge on Joe Morelli’s Grandma Bella can barely hold a candle to what’s number one on the list—but that’s top secret.
Top Secret Twenty-One: A Stephanie Plum Novel
I love the triangle Joe – Stephanie – Ranger and I laugh a lot with Stephanie-Lulu, the duo.
It’s coming out on June 17th.

Books to movie... do you prefer to see the movie first or read the book?

I would say... it depends. I'm a book lover, but I'm also a movie lover.
I love a good book, and I usually tend to dislike movies from books I've read. I also love many movies that are adaptation from a book. My problem is when I have done both. I don't know why, but things get changed, and I would say I usually dislike those changes.
I have seen movies that I've enjoyed and I have disliked the book, and vice versa.

What about you? How do you feel?

Erotic Romance

My Favorite Quotes from the Book

His song:
The song continued to write itself in his head.
"Your place or mine, said a woman so fine, with a smile so sweet that I could not decline. She kissed me in an alley off Twenty-Third Street, standing on the tiptoes of her shoeless feet."
The Song changed to a minor key.
"She loved me, then left me, while I caught us a ride. Sprinting down the street, leaving nothing of my pride."
Her song:
"I met him in New York, with his jeans so tight. I knew that it was wrong, but it felt so right. I dumped him in an alley when he got too intense, following the dictates of my own common sense."
Her thinking:

"The idea hardened in her mind. A book she'd read years ago had called it a zipless fuck-a passionate encounter with no strings attached. He was perfect. He'd relieve her tension, give her some laughs. It had been ages-well, months- since she'd indulged. And she was under so much stress. This man, she was sure, could go a long way in helping her with that. A little fun in New York City. No strings attached. Perfect."

This was a fun, short read. I've enjoyed the idea of them writing songs of their encounters.
